The PMR market has constantly grown in the recent years with the DMR standard establishing the largest market share compared to the dPMR standard (incl. NXDN and NEXEDGE). Expectations are that 50% of the analog market will migrate to digital over the next 6 years; this creates a tremendous opportunity in the PMR business for the manufactures, accessory suppliers and application developers. ^{See note 1.}

The competition in the DMR market is heating up in 2012, TAIT previewed their Tier III product at the PMR Expo and RadioComms Connect 2011, Team Simoco will be launching at the IWCE in February. EMC has released their Romulus mobile terminal and Fylde Micro will be releasing their DMR controller soon. Hytera completed their application partners program and new applications for the Hytera DMR product are entering the market. The DMR Association announced that they will release the IOP procedures for Tier III on time for the first manufacture to obtain IOP certification and the association’s membership shows a steady growth.

With the DMR standard having achieved a mature status, the IOP procedures nearing completion and the number of manufactures to double in 2012 it promises to be an exciting year.

We have seen the interest in our DMR-Applications.com portal grow steadily during 2011; currently 80% of our registered members are end-users, consultants, system integrators and distributors. Some other statistics, 2,900 visitors from 151 countries and 952 cities have been browsing our portal with the search term “Hytera”  topping the manufacturer's searches.
